What is MIM?
We have produced highly accurate metal sintered components through metal injection molding process (MIM), based on the molding and the mass-production technology which were cultivated with plastic materials.
We applied the MIM technology to micro-sized components, and have developed unique technology as μ-MIM. We also aim for further developments.
Metal Injection Molding: MIM is manufacturing process, in which metal powder is mixed and kneaded with binder material of plastics and wax, and injected in a mold to form a compact. The molded compact is debinded and sintered to obtain metal components.
Material
・Variety of materials are applicable. Such materials that have poor formability or high melting point may be formed into shapes.
・Smooth surface is available by using fine particles.
Shape
・It is possible to combine and assemble more than two parts.
・Any net shape is available without restriction of side hole or under-cut.
・Excellent transcription of fine letters or patterns.
・Thin wall products are available.
Forming
・Complex three dimensional metal components can be mass-produced with high accuracy.
・Process may be convertible from machining or investment casting.
Merits
・High geometric accuracy and homogeneous quality among individual products.
・Relative density above 95% enables good mechanical property.
・Surface treatment such as plating is available as conventional metal products.
