Development of High Performance Ti Products by Micro Metal Injection Molding

Micro metal injection molding (μ-MIM) is hoped to be one of manufacturing process for minute parts in various engineering fields. In order to improve the quality of μ-MIM products, several techniques have been developed in the process so far. The properties of final products were strongly influenced by the debinding and sintering conditions. Also the size of μ-MIM products is
too small to change the properties mayeasily by surface treatment such as nitriding. The aim of this study is to produce high performance titanium micro parts by μ-MIM. It was suggested that the microstructure and nitrogen content of μ-MIM compacts are considered to be strongly and easily influenced by nitriding treatment, which may lead the higher performance of μ-MIM compacts.
