QUALITY IMPROVEMENT OF MICRO METAL INJECTION MOULDING USING MICRO/NANO POWDERS

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT OF MICRO METAL INJECTION MOULDING USING MICRO/NANO POWDERS

Euro PM2005 Conference & Exhibition, 2-5 Oct. 2005, Prague, Czech Republic

INTRODUCTION:
Using finer metal powders is one of solutions to improve the dimensional accuracy and surface roughness of sintered products. This study aims to investigate the effects of hybrid micro/nano powders in “_-MIM” process. To produce the tiny specimens in high trial efficiency and small amount of feedstock, a novel minute mixing and injection moulding machine which can mould by only 3cc (equivalent to 1 pellet) without pelletizing was used. The effects of binder content and nano-scale copper powder loading on the melt viscosity of feedstock, sintered density and microstructure of sintered bodies were studied.
